Defensive Driving. Newcastle Driving School also teaches Defensive Driving. Defensive driving is not driving slowly, its driving on your guard and being ready to take evasive action immediately. Defensive driving involves techniques such as checking over your shoulder when changing lanes, covering your brake when approaching dangerous situations in the traffic and many other techniques that will keep you and your passengers safe. By learning how to be a defensive driver, you'll be prepared for a worst case scenario and respond spontaneously to the pre- learned safety drills.

Learning to drive with Newcastle Driving School. One hour with a qualified driving instructor, will give you a credit of three hours in your driving log book. By taking advantage of the three hour credit scheme, you will not only increase your driving hours, but will be taught by a qualified professional Instructor.

Defensive Driving Techniques, Crash Statistics- why, when & where, Safety Cushion, 3 second gap, Wet & Dry Roads, Scanning ahead and Standard alcohol drink guide. Sample Questions 1. Young adults have 3 times more accidents than the rest of the driving population. Discuss the reason why and possible methods for reducing this carnage and loss of young life. 2. How does speed, fatigue, human error, alcohol and other drugs affect the road toll and how can I help? 3. Describe the personality types likely to have serious accidents and ways in which we can protect ourselves and society from their irresponsible behaviour. 4. How do motor cars affect our society i.e. advantages and disadvantages. 5. Why do young males have so many accidents compared to young females? 6. Discuss the cost of car accidents to the family and the community in terms of loss of life and associated financial cost. 7. Discuss civil liberties and the road rules? 8. Discuss the different mindset between young men and young women i.e. social status, ego, mobility, independence etc., and why and how they use cars differently.
